I like the mood you have captured here Roman, but i prefer to see it a little bigger, there is enough detail to invest in these two images and now i find myself 10 cm away from the screen.. have you used textures to create this "old" effect?
Cheers,Marco.

I like everything about this. Nice tone and combination, a fine diptych that has me scratching my head for an answer.

thanks for taking the time to share you thoughts here, gents.
and sorry about the size, Marco. (.... it's my internet paranoia at play) regarding texture, i don't think i did. but honestly don't recall, as i processed several images that day. where some did and others didn't.

Roman, I am loving this. It's weird and I don't get the title. But it is so fascinating.
Do you have any particular photographers that you feel 'influenced' by ? Or do you avoid looking at other work altogether ? On occasion I feel like I have been too much influenced by other photographers' works and have produced clones of their styles. However I learned from so doing and was later able to give things my own twist. Still....
Your work almost always seems fresh and original. Do I qualify that by saying that I'm not exactly conversant with all that many currently exhibiting photographers or all that up on the emerging ones ? I suppose I don't want to claim to have gallery cred that I don't possess. Still.....your work almost always seems fresh and original.
[Side Note: This is one where, finally, I can accept the white thing you've been working for the last year or so -- lol !!]

Hey Roman! Good to see you around! My friend and teacher opens an exhibit in downtown Phoenix tonight with several 'conjoined' photos, so I've been looking at them for a couple weeks now. It's not surprising that you are right there with this one. I kind of get the title, but I'm sure there are some private thoughts that go into it as well. This is one I would surely love to see BIG!
Thanks for bringing it!

hi Andrea: i certainly don't avoid looking at other photographer's work. (as there's just too much good work out there ... )and i can't really say if there is any one photographer that i feel influenced by. but what i will say is there are many photographers, both well known and not so from past and present, who's work i admire and am inspired by. hey Chris: you're quite right ... bigger (and actual prints) are often more compelling. and best of luck to your friend on his opening night.

Care to comment on the title and its meaning?
I did an entire series of paintings once titled; "Rhythms in Nature, Homage to Max Planck" (fill in the blank). These titles pertained to what I was reading at the time, the convergence of Art and Quantum Physics, but didn't have much direct association to the paintings themselves. I suspect much the same here but knowing what your thought process was in titling would be very interesting. Its all a part of the game.

not really ... as the purpose of this thread is about the image and not the title

not really ... as the purpose of this thread is about the image and not the title Ok, but a provocative title invites it's application to that which it names. I must admit the title does direct my interpretation of the picture.

Ok, but a provocative title invites it's application to that which it names.
then it has served its potential/limited usefulness ... I must admit the title does direct my interpretation of the picture.
in which case the title has become an impediment to and/or an obscurer of the picture itself.

Only you can steer that direction then. Viewers are at your mercy in understanding both verbal and visual information about a shot. Clever, mystical titles are fine. I was genuinely interested in your thought process as exhibiting any image here or eslewhere invites interaction and dialogue. Obviously you desire neither.

only those who wish to be ... for all others ... there is the element of interpretation I was genuinely interested in your thought process ...
never doubted your interest was genuine ...as exhibiting any image here or eslewhere invites interaction and dialogue. Obviously you desire neither.
receiving answers that don't always please does not necessarily translate to a lack of desire to interact and/or dialogue ...

Fair enough Roman, but you seem like an elitist if you enjoy toying with people this way. I find your comments a bit disingenuous, unnecessarily obtuse and rather egotistical for a small camera-centric chat list like this.

what's with all the drama, Mike? seems like we do this dance just about every time i post an image at this forum.you ask a question ... and i reply. you don't care for the answer ... then throw a fit, along with some condescending commentary. as i said on prior occasions ... feel free to ignore my image threads if they are a source of so much consternation and/or grief for you.

Roman, we deal with drama every day here. Photographers, artists have strong egos and that's a good thing. Almost everyone defends their submissions here.
The way I see it is this. This is a small community basically comprised of amatures, serious intermediates and a few pros. Its designed so that we can all share images for comment. That implies a dialogue. I originally said I really liked this image, and I do. I asked for some incite into the title and for whatever reason you shyed away. I can appreciate that, many artists I know don't like social interaction. Maybe you are one. In all honesty I feel its because we have bad blood between us. So be it.
I'll ignor your work in the future as I think that will make you feel more comfortable here. All I can offer in the final analysis is that Art doesn't exist in a vacuum. The nature of the beast is communal.

ok, i think i follow that. but since this wasn't your submission, i fail to understand the source of drama from someone whose submission this isn't ... (though i'll admit that i don't pretend to understand all ...)The way I see it is this. This is a small community basically comprised of amatures, serious intermediates and a few pros. Its designed so that we can all share images for comment. That implies a dialogue.
i disagree that "comment" necessarily implies "dialogue". it certainly can. but it's not a given ... I can appreciate that, many artists I know don't like social interaction. Maybe you are one.
my post count at this place should debunk that theory ...
