Nikongear Private Safaris

If you can’t make any of our exciting group safaris you can always get us to tailor make a safari just for you, going only to the places you want to visit, for the dates you want to go on and priced to suit your budget.

We can build you a safari to the following destinations:

South Africa

From the rolling hills of Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Wild Coast to the rocky outcrops of what Bartolomeu Dias called “The Cape Of Storms”, to the Highveld where Paul Kruger made his millions in gold and left his legacy in the form of the greatest national park in Africa, South Africa offers it all for visitors. Both private and National Big 5 game reserves abound in most of the 9 provinces, offering a range of accommodation to suit any budget. South Africa is the most infrastructurally advanced of all African countries, offering safe national and regional roads, cellular phone networks, internet access, modern airports and yet if you still want to experience wildest Africa it is usually just around the corner.

Highlights: Drakensberg mountains, Anglo-Boer and Zulu War Battlefields, Kruger National Park, St. Lucia Wetlands (World Heritage Site), The Wild Coast of the Eastern Cape, The Garden Route, Table Mountain, Cape Winelands, Robben Island (place of incarceration of Nelson Mandela), Big 5 Game Reserves.

Namibia

Named “the Land Of Contrasts”, this former German colony and subsequent protectorate of the Republic of South Africa gained independence in 1990. For visitors who have an interest in both landscape and wildlife photography, you will find Namibia quite unlike any other destination in the world.  It boasts more than 660 species of birds, the “Big 5″ in Etosha (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino & Buffalo), the highest sand dunes in the world, some of which are equivalent in height to a 60-story building, plus the only free-roaming desert-adapted elephants and rhinos in the world.  In addition to the awe-inspiring landscapes and wildlife, Namibia offers the opportunity to encounter two unique cultural groups - the Ovahimba in the far north and the nomadic San.

Highlights: Sossusvlei, Namib Dunes, Swakopmund, German colonial architecture, Sandwich Harbour, Skeleton Coast, Etosha National Park, Caprivi Wetlands Paradise, vanishing cultures (San and Ovahimba).

Madagascar

Madagascar , known as “The Eighth Continent”, is situated approximately 400 kilometres off the east coast of Africa . This fascinating country is known for its unique fauna and flora, 80% of which are found nowhere else on earth! Most noteworthy of these are the lemur family, the carnivorous fossa , unusual reptiles, three bird families and numerous baobab species . The country also offers spectacular and diverse scenery - from rainforests, mountains and deserts to remote white beaches and islands, linked by pristine coral reefs and crystal waters. Much of the east coast and northern interior are tropical in climate, whereas the southern part of the continent experiences little rainfall, resulting in semi-desert. Our tours have been carefully designed, together with ground operators, to ensure an optimum nature experience whilst using the most upmarket and comfortable accommodation available. If you are looking for a wild and adventurous holiday, you should certainly consider Madagascar as your next destination.

When to visit: The best time to visit Madagascar is between May and November, to avoid the cyclone season. Generally, the coastal areas are hotter and more humid than the interior, with the central plateau experiencing milder temperatures by comparison. Temperatures are more comfortable during the winter months - between May and September - and most rainfall in Madagascar occurs between November to March.

We will soon be adding other destinations including Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and Botswana to our list of available destinations.
