The girl's expression is perfect. I would prefer to see a bit more contrast on her face, but this is my personal taste. Her left arm seems to be reaching low and gives the impression it is hanging, this could be improved in my opinion. Maybe just by cropping out the lower part?
About the boy: again a bit flat for me, and the hand looks constrained. Also, since you are using lights and are not after the shallow DOF obviously, I would close down by one or two stops.

Aguinaldo, Thanks for the comment. With these photographs, I have concentrated on the classic look. I'm testing out some of my lighting options.

Fons, This young man has gotten to that stage in life, where he has some blemished, so I smoothed his face. Indeed his eyes and hair are in focus. Is that what you were referring to?

Olivier, Thank you for your comments and observations. I too like her expression. Interestingly, her mother isn't a big fan of this photograph. She doesn't like the serious look but I do. Your point about here left arm and the constrast is well taken. I will work on this image.

Ron, Thanks. See my comment above to Fons about how is face is not in focus. I am continually amazed at the smooth complection of young children. I tend to leave their skin unprocessed. He is growing up though.

As I look more at this photograph, I agree. To me this is a real flaw in this image.

personally I would like a little more contrast with the background of the boy's shot, but overall nice for some classic shots. They do look patient and not overly bored, but not overly excited either lol.
