Bart, I thought about a tighter crop while shooting it, but decided on a more distant view. But a tighter crop might be better.
Bill, B&W is a no-brainer for me because that is basically all I shoot.

In fact, about the only time I leave things in color is for family snapshots, etc. I actually started a color project last year and ditched the idea in just a few weeks. It felt so wrong to me to be shooting in color.....
Vivionm, even though I shoot everything in B&W, I agree that some of my better B&W shots work better when there are strong graphical elements present.
And as for the first shot- I was attracted to it, of course, because of the very tall gentleman. I waited until he was aligned with the building behind him before I pressed the shutter. The man was easily 7 feet tall.
