Taken yesterday at my local bird sanctuary. It can be a challenge at times to get a full green head, well lit speculum and the feet showing, while flying.

D4 600VR f 5.6 1/2000s ISO 1000 , fill flash with better beamer

Advice and comments always appreciated.

Cheers

Randy

Wonderful shot Randy,
the position of the wings is just perfect.
I know you used a fast shutter speed but because of the soft leading edges
of the forward feathers it almost implies a sense of motion which I really like.
You judged your use of flash nicely in fact one wouldn't know flash was used!
Just curious, have you applied any sharpening to the image?

Regards

Tony
You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a
 parachute to skydive twice.

Tony:

Selective sharpening with Pixel Genius.

Flash on high speed sync, with better beamer, so just enough light at this shutter speed and distance to give a bit of pop to the colors and a catchlight.

It was a pretty dull day.
