In 2009 my wife and I visited family in Indonesia and toured Java from Jakarta to Bandung, Yogyakarta, Malang, Ijen, Bromo and Bali.

Indonesia is a fantastic country to visit. The people are very friendly, the landscapes are breathtaking and the food is delicious.

At the time when I shot the images below I was going through a transition from snapshot photographer to a more or less serious photographer. Please take this into account when viewing the images. Also, I shot most of the images with a compact camera (Panasonic LX3), everything was shot in Jpeg and the post processing was all done with the skills I had at that time.

Luc, viewing your photos is always a delight. Seeing how you capture Indonesia is an eye-opener for me. That you shot these on an LX3 and on JPEG and your post-processing skills of 3-years ago only amazes me even more.

If you have any plans of visiting the Philippines and perhaps consider spending a day or two to conduct a photography and post-processing workshop, please let me know. It would be a great pleasure and honor for me to organize and set one up.

I enjoyed browsing through the pictures, Luc. Thanks for sharing! I particularly like #2, #5 and #8, but the others are no inferior to them.

I think a humble P&S camera can draw more natual expressions of peaple than the professional looking DSLRs. Your snap shots are fine proofs of that.

Good point Akira. I will make a point to use an NEX or m4/3 instead of a Nikon dSLR should i do something like this.

Yes, a simple p&s can be a very efficient tool for people/street photography. I almost never use my dslr for this kind of photography any more.
