Great with a new Leica M System Zone!

The two systems; Nikon DSLR and Leica M complement each other really well and I know that there are already many Nikon DSLR users with Leica M in their bags.

I use D3 mostly for PJ style shooting at events, portraits, product shoots and marketing material.

The Leica M8 is used for low profile, everyday and travel photography, the quality of the images are pretty close.

I have shot with Leica M8 for four years and I really enjoy it!
I have already experience with many of legendary Leica M lenses but also with some of the Voigtlander Leica mount lenses as well as Zeiss.

Amen! M8.2 here. Had an original M8 for three years then sold it to buy a D700. Missed it so much I bought a second-hand M8.2. Taking into account what I sold the M8 for and then paid for the M8.2, I got all the upgrades for about $600!

Eric, I cut my rangefinder teeth on an M3, M4 and M6TTL.

Really glad to oblige, Gentlemen. :)

Now you see why I have re-arranged this site with the new menu? The M forum has been here for a couple of weeks already but no one noticed it until now. The old loooong list of boards just made it too hard to find the stuff you wanted to see.

I'm hoping to get back into the Leica fold soon. In the past I had both an M3 and an M6, together with 35mm, 50mm and 90mm Leitz lenses. I only wish the digital M series wasn't so prohibitively expensive.

Sorry no, you will have to go somewhere else for that!
That also applies for pet shots :)

I certainly hope this forum isn't limited to digital M's. I have an M5 and I absolutely love it. In spite of it's being the black sheep of M's due to it's large size ( relative to other Ms ), I find it to be very small, light and portable compared to my D300 outfit. This is the camera that I leave in my car so it is always available.

"Leica purism" isn't necessarily about what' practical. By today's standard the M5 wouldn't be deemed large.

I suppose not. Used both the M5 and M4 back in the "eighties", I remember preferring the M5 since it was a lot more practical, even if it didn´t look or feel as nice as the M4! Since I enjoyed the rangefinder system a lot I have been looking long and hard on the M9, trying to justify the cost... that little full frame Sony camera has made me hope that maybe there soon will be a affordable mirrorless solution for M lenses.
