Spotted this scene earlier today as the sun was rising through the mist over a swollen river. Mist is a common feature of winter down here in the Western Cape.

You never really know what you are going to get with the camera pointing straight into the sun.This presents processing issues as the camera never captures the scene as it is due to limitations of dynamic range and white balance so it is a case of processing to 'taste'.

I think the first one is the best.

In #2, the bird is too centered. (It is not absolutely center but slightly off, so it disturbs. Oh well, nature does not obey photographer.)
But, why not to move the bird, for example 1/5 of the frame width to the right? It should be easy to clone stamp it.
This change would in my opinion improve the picture.

In #3, the reflection looks like a flame. It draws attention away from the scene itself.

Thanks for the comments all.
Agree that the composition of certain elements like the bird is not ideal. The bird flying through the scene was incidental and caught by chance. I could clone it into a more suitable position or crop the scene slighly differently but feel the shot still works at a basic level.

In the third shot I had to experiment shooting straight into the sun and I guess a blown out portion of the image was always likely.

I feel much better now that I have given up all hope!
