Sorry - I have been out with a bad back & unable to post the last couple of weeks. Now back at it, so
My first nomination is for this beautiful "portrait" by Ranger Rick (tough to choose just one from this great series) originally shown http://nikongear.com...rians-drooling/
Stunning series of pics, Richard, although I don't have these animals in my back-yard

I found nanny by jakov.nl:

The great thing about this image is that it is a silhouette but a few strands of hair have regular lighting.
cheers

And from Alaun in http://nikongear.com...378#entry356378

The framing is the subject, nice. And the glove gives it a little twist.

The sublime expression on the face of this Loon and the encircling band of shining droplets is beautiful in its simplicity in this photograph by Randy Stout (Foveola).

What a wonderful collection of images for this week! There are many worthy of winning a POTW, but my choice has to go to Randy Stout's Loon nominated by Ann. An extraordinarily difficult shot, but executed with perfect timing, focus and composition.
