Congratulations to palalaikka in winning the tie breaker with msphoto.
Good job by everyone that entered.

I'm starting a poll to see how everyone would like to vote on their favorite
images at the end of each challenge.

1. Use the LIKE system (like we just did)

2. Use the email to me vote system (like we used to do)

I think a poll system in which you can only see the other votes áfter you voted yourself is the best option if possible.

The problem with the poll system is you CAN see the votes before you vote.

I suppose only the moderators/administrators can see that? "Normal" subscribers should be able to see the votes only after the vote.

I would think vote system is better. I just wonder if the system can handle many options when many folks puts in.

Akira is right. The reason Glenn ('bilbo') can see the votes before having cast his own is his local moderator status.

There are always side effects to any system. If you observe the ranking after having voted, nothing prevents you from deleting your first vote and vote again. Same with the "Like"/(implicit "Don't Like") system as well. Only sending your vote by e-mail/PM would circumvent that, but would be cumbersom and work intensive as well, and for what purpose? We aren't awarding a prestigious Nobel Price here.

Using the LIKE system is ok... even better than the Vote if You are able to make the LIKE secret, at least before the vote and no chance to change the vote, or the LIKE.

Definitely don't like the email system.

Voting in the topic will give more votes than by e-mail, lots of people won't take the effort i'm affraid.

my preference
1. like - we can also see the likes before we click any like ... but the photo is right there
2. poll - i do not like having to scroll back and forth to remember which photo I liked

I might be wrong but my feeling is that sometime seeing the LIKE before to click IT might influence the choice...

On the other end I completely agree with Armando on point 2: having to remember the favorite photos is annoying.

The problem with the poll system is you CAN see the votes before you vote.

That's the problem with using the like buttons.

you know what - we are all adults. We trust other members to be honest when commenting on our images. (and if they are not, the sky doesn't fall in)
Surely we can trust them with a little vote or two. Its not like someone will win the lotto or something - so I seriously doubt if the system of "likes" will be open to corruption.
LIke away - the email thing is just too much trouble for all involved.
