I thought it was time to get this going.

Good idea. My week has been diverted away from photography, or rather, directed towards the reality and chores of a digital photographer. Add to that a (lucrative) web development assignment, a RAID controller going berserk in the darkness of the night necessitating an extensive rebuild of my media server, a power outage that destroyed my backup tape while I was doing the rebuild of the server, and you get the overall picture. Not my finest hours to put it mildly, but once you get though the crisis you feel a slight degree of elevation.

Here's an overview from my den in which some of these drab realities of digital photography are addressed and hopefully, find their solutions.

I can feel it in my bones - this week is going to be slow..... photo wise.

Pouring down rain today and right on the edge of turning to snow so I'll once again use a shot from Saturday.



Nikon D90 and 70-300 @ 220mm.  1/400 @ f/11 in manual mode.

Normally just 5 - at this work station. There are 6 more (plus the Mac 30" and a handful of laptops). Just what I need for my various tasks.

Having taken a closer look at the picture: what is the thing to the left of the mug? Hope it has nothing to do with the rebuild of the media server.

Nah - probably a lens pouch or similar item. The media server isn't on this floor at all. Neither is the backup server.

Looks like some waste from coffee processing!!!


And Bjørn, judging from the way you place the venerable 200-400 zoom close to the edge of the desk, there seems to be no danger of eathquake over there!

These comments made me curious so I examined the original file and can report it is a wrist support. Had to zoom in to 100% before I could decide no lens pouch (an item which is expected to float around in neighbourhoods like this).

No more speculation, folks - case closed !
