The text is in norwegian, but the image at the top of the article should be familiar to those who were there. It's from january 2006. A little rougher weather than we experienced

January, and there is light?! I'm puzzled.
I thought in January the sun never came up and I expected that with those clouds whatever light coming from right below the horizon would be almost completely screened.

By the way, does anyone want to go back around March time?

I'll be there!!
The second half of March can be absolutely fantastic in Lofoten, all the fishing activity everywhere makes Lofoten a very different place than the tourist-Lofoten most people see in the summer.

It would be really great and I think I can find time to take up to a week off.
I was actually hoping that you would respond; obviously with your previously established contacts it would be much easier to organise the trip.

I am very interested in a March visit to Lofoten, combining this with a weekend with some friends in Oslo. Recommendations from experts as to when and where to stay would be most welcome. I would like to photograph the fishing industry in action.

Taking photos of the fishing industry is normally no problem. Just pretend you are a tourist, and you are allowed everywhere

I was wondering about Henningsvaer - not so far to drive, and a busy fishing port. Would that be a good choice?

Absolutely, but I think there will more photographic variations further west. Both Reine, Hamnøy, Nusfjord and Sørvågen have several fishing ports, and are just as busy.
