The first time I rented a 12-24mm lens.
The second time I rented quite a load of equipment (a D7000, sony NEX-10 video camera, two continious lights with softboxes and wireless microphones).
In both cases equipment arrived on time (LR aims for one or two days early to make sure you have it). Due to some shipping issues from the venue I shot back to the home office I wasn't able to send the gear back in time. Communicating the issue resulted in getting the +$300 late fee completely waived without even asking for it! (All I did was basically telling them "it's going to be late - here's my tracking number, I'll send it when I have it). And this was for a first-time (renting through my employer, first rental was on my own account) customer.
The whole rental procedure is painless - you receive a box with a big warning to not throw it out as you need it for the return shipment, and the return shipping label is included. Once done, send box back. No collateral needed, and the reviews on the website themselves are bluntly honest.
All in all highly recommended; this company aims to please and it shows.

I had my own camera ready when I started unpacking the equipment so I could capture serial numbers and any as-received dings or scratches - also so I could reference the packing configuration when it came time to send it back. Return shipping costs are included in the rental fees paid up front -- they provided the appropriate return shipping label and all I had to do was find a UPS drop-off location.
I plan to rent from them again.
