Juvenile leopard cub getting his coat dirty.

Posted Image

This image was shot using the new Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX OSII zoom, with a 2x converter. A very, very nice combo that is light and easy to handhold. I actually found it much easier to work with this setup in the front of the Land Rover than the 120-300mm 2.8.

The processing on this image was NX2.2.5 using some control points to boost the animal and de-intensify the surroundings (if there is such a word).

Interesting to see those nice coats in the mud. We once found a big male, rubbing his face and neck in buffalo dung, and the trackers explained that they mask their smell that way when hunting.

We drove past an area that a leopard had recently marked and it is a very strong scent, almost smells like confectionery.
