It's a great AE body for use with odd lenses. I found this a very useful body to keep permanently mounted with a mirror lens, for example, and for experimenting with strange lenses via adapters. I could always rely on the metering. I've still got it - the low prices these fetch today make it hard to justify the effort of selling.

I don't see much sense in using this camera any more; but in a collection of interesting camera designs the EL can take up an important place: It was Nikon's answer to the AE cameras of the competition - and what an answer: It was as far as I can remember the first AE camera, where you select the apperture and the exposure time gets executed automatically. The AE camera before were vice-versa, which is for most situations - except e.g. sports - the wrong approach.
It was one of the first cameras to include electronics; but it still used a Cds sensor which was slow in adapting from high to low light levels.
I used one for many years and was very pleased with it; it sits in my small collection of historically interesting Nikon products, aside to an F3 and some lens.
