Dallas Dahms' Overview:

Very well made lens that produces sharp images at all apertures and performs equally well when stopped down completely. The Optical Stabiliser is a bit noisy, but does its job properly. Autofocus is very quick and totally silent on a pro body. It performs quite well under difficult lighting circumstances. The lens is priced fairly similarly to the Nikon equivalent but offers the same kind of image quality. You can buy the older version of the 50mm f/1.8D for the difference in cost.

Dallas' Rating:

4/5 on a D700
