Our Opinion:
This is a terrific lens and one of the best bargains you will find in the Nikon stable. It's compact and light weight, very sharp and has tremendous contrast and colour rendition. Many users report that it is a bit soft from 200-300mm, however we didn't experience that with our sample. It was initially offered at a very low price by Nikon but we have noticed that due to demand the price has gone well over $600 for a new one in some places. Still well worth considering if you are looking for a lightweight telephoto zoom lens.
